Rectory Repairs

What we need to do The appointment and arrival of our new Rector has been great news for the Ballydehob Union of Parishes. The interim period when we were without a Rector and the Rectory was empty provided us with the perfect opportunity to carry out a number of essential repairs and upgrades to the building itself.  The autumn torrential rain certainly demonstrated how essential the repairs to the roof had become! Because these repairs were essential, we could not afford to wait to have them done, and the current estimate is that the total cost will be around €50,000. In most years the parish just about manages to cover its running costs and its Assessment. The work on the Rectory is an addition to these costs and we have to meet the additional expense with a special fundraising effort. If you feel that you can make a contribution to help us to meet these extra costs then please do so. All gifts of money, no matter how large or small, are very welcome and very gratefully received.   Rectory Repair Update   The repair work on the Rectory is almost complete and heartfelt thanks to all of you who have helped and made contributions to date. The work done on the building has stopped any further deterioration, completed essential repairs and also made a warm and welcoming home for Steve and Heidi McCann for which they are very grateful.   To date, you have raised the majority of the money required; a tremendous achievement.  A number of events have been organised to help in the fundraising:  12 March Fashion Show - see our News page and the Fashion Show Album - raised €3,500   18 April - Céilí  A great success and raised €1,080! 25 May - Tunes at Twilight More details on our News page   At this stage we still have two main pieces of work to undertake: the painting of the outside of the Rectory and the re-roofing of the outbuildings which need urgent attention.
